The Charleston Tea Garden is on Wadmalaw Island, about 20 miles south of Charleston, South Carolina. It is owned by the Bigelow Tea Company and grows the Camellia sinensis plant, which is used to make the tea sold under the brands American Classic Tea and Charleston Tea Garden. Every year, they held the First Flush Festival to mark the start of the harvest season.
There is no entrance fee. The trolley tour is the only fee you'll have to pay. The Bigelow family, William Barclay Hall, and the garden team are ready to provide you with the most memorable tea experience of your life.
The county of Charleston is located in South Carolina. Note: A plantation is a big farm where slaves did the majority of the work.
Charleston Tea Garden improved Camellia Sinensis cultivation to become the first commercial tea producer in the United States.
