Health Effects of Asbestos Exposure: Kidney Failure

According to an Italian study, asbestos exposure can cause renal cell carcinoma, the most frequent type of kidney cancer.

Is it possible for mesothelioma to induce kidney failure?

Renal failure can occur if mesothelioma spreads to the kidneys. This might result in blood in the urine, back discomfort, anemia, and other complications. However, mesothelioma is not directly linked to renal failure outside of metastasized malignancies. Renal dysfunction, on the other hand, can be a sign of mesothelioma in some circumstances.

Is there a test for asbestos exposure in the blood?

Biomarkers specific to mesothelioma are being employed as blood tests to diagnose the asbestos-related disease. They rely on the presence of proteins in the blood that can only be produced by a mesothelioma tumor.

What happens when mesothelioma reaches its terminal stage?

The disease has migrated to distant organs during the latter stages of pleural mesothelioma. Shortness of breath (dyspnea), intense coughing, pain and tightness in the chest, and substantial weight loss are all possible symptoms at this stage.

How quickly does mesothelioma spread?

Mesothelioma has a long latency period, which means that symptoms might take anywhere from 10 to 50 years to show. Each case of mesothelioma has a different latency period, which is determined by a number of factors such as the patient's age and the amount of time they were exposed to asbestos.

Is it possible for mesothelioma to spread?

When malignant cells travel from the main tumor in the lining of the lungs or abdomen to other parts of the body, it is known as metastatic mesothelioma. When mesothelioma cells spread, they usually do so through lymph nodes. Cancer stage, cell type, and treatment all have an impact on metastasis.
